What is the hiring process?

Anyone interested in a position at Camp Rippling Brook should apply using our staff portal. From there, applications will be reviewed and an interview may be set up. Unless otherwise requested interviews will typically be via Zoom. After an interview, an applicant will receive feedback. If we choose to move forward with offering a position the applicant will then be required to complete a criminal background check, fingerprinting, staff paperwork, and staff training. What are the dates for the 2025 camp season?

Camp will be 7 weeks from June 23rd - August 8th, 2025. Prior to camp beginning, all staff are required to attend mandatory staff training. Staff training will occur two weeks prior to camp starting. Dates are still to be determined.

Do I have to work the whole summer?

We are flexible but need to know your availability prior to the start of camp.

Do I have to attend staff training?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Staff training is extremely important to making sure we are ready and prepared for camp. It is also an important part of being in compliance with our camp license. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let us know during the hiring process.

Question 5

What should I bring to camp every day?

Staff are expected to bring a lunch, snacks, water bottle, and whatever else necessary to have a successful camp day. Most staff will carry supplies in a backpack throughout the day. First aid kits will be provided. Staff will also receive a staff shirt during training to be worn on Mondays.

How many campers will I be responsible for?

This would depend on the position. We will certainly discuss more specifics during the hiring process but typically a camp group will have two senior counselors and approximately 20 campers. Our 4 year old campers would be in smaller groups with no more than 12 campers and 2 staff.

Can you describe a typical camp day?

How much and how often will I get paid?

Pay days will be every two weeks. The amount is dependent upon position and experience.

Question 9

Can I bring my phone to camp?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We ask that you actually bring your phone to use for some camp operations. Instead of using paper and pen, we are embracing technology and request for some things be completed electronically. This makes life easier on everyone. We ask that you keep your phone away during the day so you can stay engaged with campers. Phones may be used for programmatic reasons.

Campers are not to bring electronics to camp.

I am interested in more than one position, should I apply multiple times?

No, there's no need to apply multiple times so please save your time. Simply indicate on your application the positions that you are interested in and we will discuss it more during your interview.
